Project Overview
Bedspoke is an Australian Property Management and Digital Guest Guide platform designed to help property managers organize property information and provide guests with a smooth and informative stay experience.
The platform allows administrators to manage multiple properties, create property-specific information, and provide guests with essential instructions and local recommendations.
The Challenge
Managing multiple short-term rental properties requires maintaining a large amount of property-specific information.
Each property can have different instructions for finding the location, gaining access, checking in, checking out, parking, traveling, and other important guest requirements.
The platform also needed a convenient way to manage nearby places such as restaurants, bars, cafes, attractions, and other points of interest and make relevant places available for each property.
The Solution
Bedspoke was developed as a centralized Property Management and Digital Guest Guide platform.
Administrators can create properties and organize their information into different sections. Each section can contain multiple content blocks, providing flexibility to create detailed guides based on the requirements of each property.
The platform also includes a Places management system where administrators can manage restaurants, bars, cafes, attractions, and other local places.
A key feature added to the platform was postal code-based place attachment. Administrators can assign a postal code to a property and to a place. When both have the same postal code, the relevant place can automatically be associated with that property.
This reduces repetitive manual work and provides a scalable way to connect properties with nearby recommendations.
Key Features
Property Management
Administrators can create and manage properties and maintain all property-specific information from a centralized platform.
Section & Block Management
Property information is organized into sections such as location, gaining access, check-in, check-out, parking, and travel. Each section can contain multiple flexible content blocks.
Places Management
Administrators can manage local places including restaurants, bars, cafes, attractions, and other points of interest.
Postal Code-Based Attachment
Places can be linked to properties through matching postal codes. This allows relevant local places to be automatically displayed for properties within the same postal area.
Digital Guest Guide
Guests can access important information about their property, including access instructions, check-in and check-out details, travel information, and nearby recommendations.
How It Works
The administrator creates a property and adds the required sections and content blocks.
Local places are added separately and can be assigned postal codes.
When a property has the same postal code as a place, that place can be associated with the property and presented as part of its guest experience.
This creates a simple workflow:
Property → Postal Code → Matching Places → Guest Recommendations
My Contribution
I worked on Bedspoke as a Full Stack Developer, contributing to the development and enhancement of the property management and digital guest guide workflows.
My work included property management, section and block-based content management, Places management, property-place relationships, backend APIs, database operations, and the implementation of the postal code attachment functionality.
A major part of the work involved creating a flexible data structure that could support different property information requirements while maintaining efficient relationships between properties and local places.

React, Node.js, Express.js, MongoDB, Mongoose, REST APIs, AWS, Heroku, and Sentry.
Challenges & Technical Considerations
One of the main challenges was designing a flexible content structure because every property can require different information and instructions.
Another important consideration was efficiently managing relationships between properties and places. The postal code feature provided a scalable solution by allowing properties and places to be connected based on their geographical postal area rather than requiring every relationship to be created manually.
Result
Bedspoke provides property managers with a centralized platform for managing properties, guest information, and local recommendations.
The combination of structured property content, digital guest guides, Places management, and postal code-based associations reduces administrative effort while providing guests with relevant information about their property and surrounding area.
The platform creates a more organized property management workflow and a better digital experience for guests across Bedspoke's Australian property portfolio.
